Available to foreigners contributing to Thailand’s economy in advanced industries like digital tech, robotics, renewable energy, biotech, and aviation. It simplifies life for professionals by extending reporting periods and allowing dependents.

Eligible Industries (S-Curve Sectors)
First S-Curve: Next-Gen Automotive, Smart Electronics, Medical & Wellness Tourism, Agriculture & Biotechnology, Food for the Future.
New S-Curve: Automation & Robotics, Aviation & Logistics, Biochemicals & Green Petrochemicals, Digital Businesses, Medical Hubs.

Smart Visa Categories

  1. SMART “T” — Talent

    • Highly skilled professionals in science and tech.

    • Salary: ≥ 100,000 THB/month (50,000 THB for startup employees)

    • 1-year contract, government endorsement required.

    • Benefits: Visa valid up to 4 years, no work permit, family can live and work.

  2. SMART “I” — Investor

    • Investors funding innovation and tech.

    • Minimum investment: 20 million THB in tech companies or 5 million THB in startups.

    • Business must be in a targeted industry.

    • Benefits: Visa valid up to 4 years, no work permit, dependents can stay and work.

  3. SMART “E” — Executive

    • Senior management professionals with at least 10 years’ experience.

    • Salary: ≥ 200,000 THB/month, 1-year contract required.

    • Benefits: Visa valid up to 4 years, no work permit, dependents may stay and work.

  4. SMART “S” — Startup

    • Startup founders in incubation/accelerator programs.

    • Must have health insurance and savings of 600,000 THB (plus 180,000 THB per dependent).

    • Duration options: 6 months, 1 year, or 2 years.

Family Members
Dependents: spouse and children under 20 must have health insurance and proof of savings (180,000 THB each). Family can work without work permits.

Application Process

  1. Apply for Qualification Endorsement: Submit at smart-visa.boi.go.th (review time ~30 days).

  2. Receive Endorsement Letter: Issued by BOI.

  3. Apply for Smart Visa Issuance: In Thailand at TIESC or via a Thai Embassy/Consulate abroad.

  4. Pay Visa Fee: ~10,000 THB/year (fees may vary).

Required Documents
For in-person issuance: Valid passport, endorsement letter, application forms, passport photo, and additional documents (if applicable).
